Dr. E.F. Khambule
Dr. Elias Khambule is a Founder and Senior Pastor of Word of Faith Bible Church based in Naledi, Soweto, which serves over 1,000 members. Formerly a human resource specialist, Dr. E.F Khambule holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in counselling and a doctoral degree in divinity from Teamwork Bible College International, Martinsville, Virginia, United States.
Born, bred and buttered in Orlando East Soweto, the pastor has been married to Senior Pastor and First Lady Thoko Khambule for 48 years and was blessed with two sons. The pastor received the vision for the church in 1986 and held the first service on the 17-April-1987 in the school hall of Ithuteng Primary School in Tladi Soweto with twenty people in attendance (including young children and babies).
This was immediately followed by a tent revival where the Lord added many souls to the number. A large number of these converts are still present and now matured, serving in the church. After moving from the school hall to a community centre (Entokozweni) to accommodate the increased numbers, the Lord willed that the church obtain a tract of land in Naledi. A small hall was built in September 1992 on the land and Word of Faith’s 1,000-seater tabernacle shortly afterwards. The buildings and freehold are miracles from God, completely built from members’ contribution – truly an inspiration to other ministries.
Dr. E.F Khambule’s cornerstone beliefs for success are souls before self, sacrifice before success and sowing before reaping. His passion is in praise and worship, not to entertain but to minister and convict people to surrender their lives to God by lifting Jesus and God higherr . Priorities for the ministry to succeed are:
- God’s presence
- Souls saved
- Christian maturity
- Regular meeting
- Leadership by example
- Strong families
- Impact on the community
Dr. Khambule’s motto is “What God originates, He supports”.
